GivEnergy All in One 3.6 or 6.0

GivEnergy All in One 3.6 or 6.0? Which one is right for me?

GivEnergy All in One 3.6 or 6.0?

The GivEnergy All in One combines a battery and an inverter into one compact unit.

Couple it with a supporting Giv-Gateway, and you’ll be able to switch seamlessly between grid and battery power. This means you can keep the power on during grid outages.

The new All in One 3.6 has a few differences compared with the All in One 6.0 model.

Read below to find out which model is right for you.

What is the GivEnergy All in One?

Let’s start with some All in One basics, in case you’re not in the know.

Battery storage systems consist of:

  • A battery to store energy
  • An inverter to convert direct current (DC) electricity to alternating current (AC) electricity

AC is what many modern household electronic devices run on, hence the need for an inverter.

Whereas other GivEnergy batteries require a separate inverter unit, the All in One combines both battery and inverter into one unit.

What is the Giv-Gateway?

Compatible with the GivEnergy All in One, the Giv-Gateway allows for seamless switching between battery and grid.

This means you can keep the power on in the event of a grid outage.

Moreover, the Giv-Gateway allows for a connection point for solar PV systems, meaning you can get continued energy generation without grid supply.

GivEnergy All in One 3.6 or 6.0? What’s the difference and which one is right for me?

The two models both include a 13kWh LiFePO4 battery and an AC coupled inverter.

However, there are a few key differences in the following areas.

Peak power

  • All in One 6.0 – 6kW nominal power
  • All in One 3.6 – 3.6kW on-grid & 6.0kW off-grid

G98 & G99 certification

  • All in One 6.0 – your installer must complete a G99 application, send to the DNO, and receive approval before installation of the system can take place.
  • All in One 3.6 – your installer can install the system first, and then send a G98 application to the DNO within 28 days thereafter.

So, which one is right for me?

If you want more peak power, the 6.0 is the better option.

However, you’ll have to go through the necessary procedures for G99 certification. This means your installer will need to apply to and get approval from your DNO before your All in One can be installed and connected to the grid.

On the other hand…

… with the All in One 3.6, your installer can install your system, and then complete a G98 application within 28 days.

In short, the All in One 3.6 is grid-ready. You don’t have to wait for permission from your DNO before you start using your system.

Grid

The All in One 3.6 may be the better choice if you live in:

  • A rural area
  • A new-build housing estate
  • A flat
  • Areas where there are grid limitations

G98 vs G99: what’s the difference?

G98 and G99 certificates are legal requirements for microgeneration devices.

Which certificate you require depends on the size of your microgeneration device.

You’ll need G98 if…

… your device has an aggregate registered capacity of 3.68kW per phase or less.

In this case, your installer will have to complete your G98 application within 28 days of installation.

Fortunately, as the All in One 3.6 fits into this category, you can install and commission the system first. Your installer can then fill in the G98 application and notify the DNO.

No need to wait around.

You’ll need G99 if…

… your device has an aggregate registered capacity above 3.68kW per phase.

The All in One 6.0 fits into this category.

In this case, your installer will have to complete a G99 application before your device can be connected to the grid.

In short, you’ll need permission from the DNO before installation.
