Local training provider electrified by GivEnergy’s gift

In a bright burst of support for education and renewable energy, GivEnergy is gifting a local training provider with a hybrid inverter to support its new PV course. The heartwarming twist? Rhys Williams, a student at the college and also a dedicated GivEnergy employee, is the one wiring up the tech.

Meet Rhys Williams

Rhys Williams started his GivEnergy journey on the customer support desk. However, Rhys’s genuine interest in the company’s battery storage technology quickly shone through. Handling tough technical queries spurred Rhys on to pursue deeper electrical knowledge.

So, recognising this passion and enthusiasm, GivEnergy offered to fund an electrical course so that Rhys could actualise his ambition. In turn, after this pledge of full funding, Rhys began at Rebus Training on a qualified electrician course.

Rhys’s learning journey isn’t just confined to the classroom. After enrolling at Rebus College, Rhys was promoted to a field service engineer. He now combines his studies with practical experience out in the field.

“I have worked for GivEnergy now for 3 years. I enjoy the freedom of my role, being able to help customers hands-on, and allowing them to put a face to the name of the company.

It’s great to be able to give back to my training provider with the gift of a free hybrid inverter. It feels even better to be the one fitting the product myself – a true ‘full-circle’ moment!”

Meet Rebus Training

Rebus Training is an electrical training provider in Stoke-on-Trent and the surrounding area. The organisation offers life-changing apprenticeships and professional training for qualified electricians.

In great clean energy news, Rebus is now offering a new solar PV course to upskill electricians on working with renewables technology.

“It’s great to have a leading renewables technology company like GivEnergy on the doorstep. We can’t wait to use the kindly donated tech to educate the next generation of students in the most practical way possible. Thanks GivEnergy!”

Supporting education

At GivEnergy, we’re passionate about supporting education. The donation of a hybrid inverter to Rebus College is just one small part of this ongoing commitment. Other work includes:

  • Spending £0.5million on our not-for-profit, GivEducation. Here, we’re working in partnership with Keele University to provide a software solution that supports teachers in delivering better learning outcomes.
  • Working with Primary Engineer to encourage STEM in local schools. The goal is to inspire young children in North Staffs that an engineering career is not only attainable, but also readily available —with high-tech careers right on the doorstep.

Stay tuned

We’re delighted to support Rebus Training – particularly on a solar and storage course so close to the heart. We’re also incredibly proud to have our technology helping educate future electricians.

Plus, it’s an even nicer touch that our own Rhys Williams is the one to install the technology for Rebus. Stay tuned for more feel-good news from the GivEnergy team!
