Armed Forces Covenant

GivEnergy signs the Armed Forces covenant

At GivEnergy, we support employment opportunities for veterans, service spouses, and partners.

Those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces of the Crown – and their families – should face no disadvantages compared to other citizens in the provision of public and commercial services.

Now, to officially solidify this support, GivEnergy has signed the Armed Forces Covenant.

Introducing the Armed Forces Covenant

Since 2013, over ten thousand companies across the UK have signed the Armed Forces Covenant. In so doing, they’re committing themselves to providing fair treatment for veterans, serving personnel, reservists and their families. And we’re proud to be joining the cause.

The Armed Forces Covenant is a voluntary pledge. It serves to help raise awareness of the immense contribution that those who serve, or who have served, and their families, make to everything we do.

Simply put, they deserve to treated with fairness and respect in their communities, economy, and society for which they serve with their lives.

The GivEnergy pledge

We’re proud to pledge that:

  • No member of the Armed Forces should face disadvantage in the provision of public and commercial services compared to any other citizen
  • In some circumstances special treatment may be appropriate, especially for injured or bereaved Armed Forces personnel and their families

Jason Howlett, GivEnergy Group CEO, comments:

“Here at GivEnergy, ‘fairness’ is an important part of our ethos. It’s part of why we’re working with the UK government and UK charities to end fuel poverty. It’s part of why we’re helping create accessibly priced products that empower energy freedom for all. And it’s also part of why we signed the Armed Forces Covenant. Those who serve deserve fairness as a minimum.

Quite beyond ethics, the Armed Forces Covenant is also a practical solution to the talent crunch, too. According to recent National Grid research, the energy sector needs to fill 400,000 roles between 2020 and 2050 to meet net zero targets.  So, the armed forces community – and their  skills, talent, and experience – will be invaluable as we look to build the net zero workforce of the future.”

Josie Frodsham, HR Manager at GivEnergy, adds:

“We are lucky to have a range of GivEnergy colleagues within the Armed Forces community. These employees bring their experiences, backgrounds, and learnings with them to the workplace – not to mention a wealth of transferable skills. So, we as a team only benefit from all that knowledge.

It now brings me great pride as HR Manager to continue embedding more Armed Forces support within GivEnergy.”
