Putting our energy into giving back

While GivEnergy is a market leader in the energy business, we’re about more than business wins, batteries, and bottom lines. We’re also committed to changing the world and giving back.

INVESTING IN

Education

GivEducation

We spend £0.5million a year and employ 4 full-time employees in our not-for-profit business, GivEducation.

Here, we’re working to provide a software solution that supports teachers in delivering better learning outcomes.

We have the in-house software expertise and resource to act as a force for good, and we’re committed to doing so.

GivEnergy 850 learning lab

We’re funding a Keele University summer school for a group of 85 Y10 students from low participation areas of Newcastle under Lyme.

The students will be immersed in a university and campus experience – giving disadvantaged teenagers a real-life university experience.

All whilst exploring sustainability, clean energy, and the heritage of the Borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme.

INVESTING IN

Community

Buildings

We’re giving back to the communities we serve through continued physical investment.

For example, we’ve recently brought life back to an abandoned three-story office in Newcastle under Lyme – purchasing the property and transforming it into our sustainable HQ that’s 100% powered by renewable energy.

We’re also building two factories on Chemical Lane, set to create hundreds of local well-paid jobs.

Future

We’ve purchased a large plot of land in Newcastle under Lyme as part of our “giving back” incentive.

Here, we’re looking to build a plot of sustainable homes with GivEnergy technology implemented from development for optimum efficiency.

For us, it’s all about investing in the local community to reuse abandoned buildings, repurpose unloved areas, and set North Staffs apart for sustainability.

INVESTING IN

People

Jobs

As well as creating new jobs, we also help get people into the work in the first instance, through apprenticeships and graduate schemes.

We’re committed to giving everyone a chance, no matter what their background.

Homes

We don’t just help people professionally. We also help personal lives when it’s in our power to do so.

For example, we’ve worked with DIY SOS on multiple occasions to provide technology, expertise, and resource to worthy causes.

INVESTING IN

Change

Lobbying

We invest in multiple stakeholder and community engagement initiatives.

This includes lobbying MPs, acting as Patron to our local Chamber, and visiting Westminster to work with decision-makers on ending fuel poverty.

Energy partnerships

We’re on a mission to empower energy freedom for all.

As part of that mission, we’re working with Octopus on Zero Bills – a next generation energy tariff with zero energy bills for five years, guaranteed.

INVESTING IN

Future

Social housing

We’re integrating with energy resellers, aggregators and third party manufacturers to help improve the efficiency of social housing stock. For an example of scale - the most recent project we’re working on with Together Housing group is 25,000 homes alone.

These initiatives are just one facet of our commitment to ending energy poverty and improving power quality.

Environmental impact

We’re committed to minimising our environmental impacts. As part of this, we’re constantly assessing our supply chain and manufacturing processes to make conscious changes to be cleaner, greener and more efficient where possible.

Plus, looking further afield, our products reduce the average home’s carbon emissions by >300kg per year. So, we’re helping save 2500 tonnes of CO2 emissions daily.
