Leading energy storage firm, GivEnergy, has announced the purchase of a new corporate headquarters in Newcastle-under-Lyme. This acquisition is part of a major investment in the city and will breathe new life – plus bring over 100 jobs – to a long-empty building.
Osprey House, on Brymbo Road, served as the home for Phones 4U in a former life. Now, however, the three-storey, 25,130 square foot space has sat in disuse for some 5 years. With the new investment from GivEnergy, the premises will soon be home to 60 employees – with plans for at least 40 more before the close of 2023.
“The relocation and expansion of our headquarters represents an important next step for GivEnergy.
Jason Howlett, GivEnergy CEO
We are possibly the current fastest growing and heaviest physical investor in the Newcastle and Stoke area, and our new base will allow us to continue our commitment to local investment while facilitating new jobs.”
With the renewable energy market soaring, GivEnergy is currently navigating a hyper-growth curve. The company has already received planning permission for the first phase of a new £15m investment on two factories on Chemical Lane, Stoke-on-Trent, where it will manufacture its technology such as electric vehicle chargers, solar inverters, batteries, and more. Meanwhile, the company is set to hit circa 500% growth for the financial year ending March 2023.
“We’re firing on all cylinders over the next twelve months.
As well as the new manufacturing facility in Stoke, this new Newcastle HQ will allow us to continue bringing rewarding, well-paid roles in the renewables sector to an underfunded area. We want to make Stoke and Newcastle a “centre of excellence” for the renewable industry.
With a fantastic focal point for GivEnergy people to meet and collaborate, we can better deliver solutions for the pressing energy challenges facing the world.”
GivEnergy will move into its new premises in Q2 of 2023, after working with local businesses to design and decorate the building. Anyone interested in the 40 new jobs to be filled at Osprey House – spanning development, customer support, sales, and marketing – should email careers@givenergy.co.uk.
