GivEnergy x 10 Downing Street

Local skills champion, GivEnergy, has been invited to a reception at 10 Downing Street to celebrate UK players making a significant impact in the education and skills sector.

The Local Skills Champions’ Reception will be held on 24 October, 2023. Rt Hon. Gillian Keegan MP, Secretary of State for Education, is to host the distinguished gathering.

GivEnergy is honoured to have been nominated to attend the event by Aaron Bell, MP for Newcastle under Lyme. The nomination is a testament to the company’s exceptional contributions to fostering a skilled workforce in North Staffs – transforming the region into a ‘centre of excellence’ for the renewables sector.

Michael McAthey, Group Finance Director at GivEnergy and attendee to the Downing Street reception, comments:

“Being invited to the Local Skills Champions’ Reception at 10 Downing Street is a tremendous honour. It reaffirms our dedication to promoting sustainable energy solutions and investing in the development of a skilled workforce that can drive the green revolution from right here in North Staffordshire.

We are grateful to Aaron Bell MP for recognising our efforts, and we look forward to meaningful discussions and collaborations.”

GivEnergy is passionate about investing in the local community and creating well-paid, highly skilled roles in a rewarding sector. As part of this, the company gives back to the communities it serves through continued physical investment.

For example, GivEnergy has recently brought life back to an abandoned three-story office in Newcastle under Lyme – purchasing the property and transforming it into a sustainable HQ that’s 100% powered by renewable energy.

The company is also building two Stoke-on-Trent factories, with the intention of creating hundreds of local well-paid jobs. As well as creating new jobs and opportunities for career progression, GivEnergy also helps get people into the work in the first instance, through apprenticeships and graduate schemes.

Michael adds:

“For GivEnergy, it’s all about investing in the local community to stimulate jobs, skills, and set North Staffs apart for sustainability.

We’re committed to advancing renewable energy solutions and cultivating the necessary skills to drive the industry forward. With this latest trip to Downing Street, we’re excited to have the opportunity to engage with other local skills champions.”
